  • Place Name: First Place
    Contestant Name: Waverly Newspapers
Entry Title: Harvest in the Heartland
Entry Credit: Elizabeth Bingham, Carrie Wright
Judge Comment: Excellent special section with an impressive array of paid advertisers and timely articles. Would love to have had your sales team to complement the writing staff.
  • Place Name: Second Place
Contestant Name: Dyersville - Dyersville Commercial
Entry Title: National Farm Toy Show
    Entry Credit: staff
Judge Comment: If nothing else, this special section should get the award for detail. This annual event must bring thousands of visitors too Dyersville. The time devoted to this project shows the newspaper and those involved with the project are all-in and super-focused.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Decorah - Leader
Entry Title: Celebrating Decorah 175 years - Decorah Leader
    Entry Credit: Staff
Judge Comment: Decorah's 175th anniversary edition was jam-packed with history, interesting anecdotes and features about interesting properties. I especially liked the idea of interviewing members of the 50th class reunion members about what they remembered about growing up in the community and the 125th anniversary.
